    The Show

Here is a little more info about the bands, in no particular order!

    Vince Mira

Born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Vince subsequently moved to Seattle. His career began playing Spanish-language songs in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. There he was discovered by producer Chris Snell. His similarity to Johnny Cash caught the ear of Cash’s son, John Carter Cash, and led to John producing Mira’s first record. Vince has appeared on Good Morning America and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and has done appearances for Seattle’s KOMO-TV News. As of late 2008, he is assisting Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard with a Hank Williams tribute CD, as well as touring with Gossard as part of Timberland’s EarthKeeper project. Since 2007, Vince has been backed by the band The Roy Kay Trio.

    The Classic Crime

The Classic Crime is a band from Seattle, Washington. They are currently signed to Tooth & Nail Records.Their debut album Albatross was released on May 23, 2006. The band has almost 10 million plays on Myspace. Albatross had the highest debut sales in the history of Tooth & Nail records with over 4,000 sales in the first week it was released. The band’s second full length record, The Silver Cord was released July 22, 2008. They also released an E.P., Acoustic Seattle Sessions. They finished their 3rd record Vagabonds, which will be released April 6th according to a post by the band on their facebook fanpage.

    Mike Herrera of MXPX

Hi. My name is Mike. I play bass in a band called MXPX, and I sing too. I grew up in a blue-collar town called Bremerton, WA.   It’s a pretty good place to grow up I guess.   I was always the one half Mexican kid in school and I thought I was the only one, until one year my family went on vacation to visit family in Tijuana.   So anyway back to music.

This guy I knew played guitar in a local punk band and they just happened to practice down the street from my house, just a bike ride away.   So in Jr. High I would show up there after school and climb down the stairs into the dark basement where they had all these amps, drums and guitars.   This was the greatest thing ever and I felt like a small part of it.   I started going to see them play at parties where crowds of older cool kids were skating on ramps and roaming free, just having a great time.   This was the Punk Scene in Kitsap County around 89 or 90.   They started promoting their own shows in community halls and I was equally enthralled to be a part of it.   As I looked at this new world with wide-eyed wonder I knew what I had to do.   I had to start my own punk band.   And I did.

It didn’t happen over night like in the movies.   Like on the A-team when they build some big machine with chemical waste, a barrel of monkeys, and duct tape then lay in wait to defeat the bad guys.   This was me sitting in my bedroom wondering why it was so hard to make my fingers move in weird positions. I started playing bass in early 1991 and guitar about six months later. As soon as I could make a note on the bass, I started writing my own songs.   Most of them had two chords in them and really bad lyrics about all my teenage problems.   I would sit in my sister’s bedroom and record into her stereo, then play it back on a boom box. Then re-record the songs playing through the boom box while also singing backing vocals and guitar.   You get the idea right?   I had a cassette tape full of these little songs.   So naturally the next step was to play the songs live in front of real people.   Okay, this isn’t a book so I’ll just say MXPX was then born… July 6 th , 1992, the rest is history (sort of).     Our first show was terrible; the last show we just played was pretty good.   See you out there.

    Memphis Radio Kings

    memphis

    MEMPHIS RADIO KINGS

Memphis Radio Kings never set out to make roots music, country music, or so-called Americana.  They just wanted to write and play great songs.  A reflection of their varied influences much more than any intentional direction, these songs felt organic and real.  This, combined with a name chosen more because it sounded cool than with any particular identification with a place or time, caused them to be tightly embraced by lovers of “roots” music.  As a result of this warm, cocoon-like embrace, accolades were heaped, many contests were won, shows were played.

But like any embrace, it became limiting and constricting over time, until they began to writhe under its pressure, ultimately kicking and bucking like a toddler in a car seat.  To soothe this musical temper tantrum, MRK added a fourth member, and began experimenting with different musical textures, moving further away from traditional music and closer to something uniquely their own.

They have roots, but this isn’t roots music.  This is decidedly American music, but don’t call it Americana.  This is music influenced as much by John Updike and the world we live in now as The Replacements or Bruce Springsteen.  So download these files, and hope your earbuds can do them justice.  Another chapter, another reason to believe in unlikely heroes, “Another Punch from a So-Called Friend”.

Memphis Radio Kings are Charlie, Tony, time and Jon.  They sing and play guitars, drums, keyboards and other stuff.

    Sweet Water

It’s 2009, and Sweet Water are back with a great new record, “Clear the Tarmac “ (Golden City) and a welcome return to the stage. But, to best understand the return of Sweet Water, and the commitment they put into “Clear the Tarmac” you must understand their past.

Rising from the ashes of 80s Seattle punk bands SGM, Skank Puppies, and The Experience, Sweet Water (Adam, Cole, Paul, and Credo) shot to near-stardom in the early 90s Seattle explosion. Propelled by keen pop-punk sensibilities, spacey glam songwriting, and fueled by a roaring wall of guitar, Sweet Water delivered on the promises of rock and roll.

Sweet Water’s live performances back then were hot, sweaty, screaming, smoky, passionate, substance-fueled affairs that permanently burned memories into their fans’ brains.

    The Maldives

The Maldives have been breaking hearts and melting faces with their Northwestern brand of country rock since 2006. Their music is made of blue jeans and brown beards, pedal steel and porch swings, fiddle tunes and moonshine. They have graced the stages of Sasquatch, Bumbershoot, and most recently played a sold-out three-night stint at the legendary Tractor Tavern in support of their second full-length album “Listen to the Thunder,” released 2009 on Mt. Fuji Records. They live in Ballard, Washington.
